Tryouts for 2020 Teams Announced

Dates added for Junior 17u, announced for Senior 19u

The Lancaster Post 11 American Legion Baseball Team will host tryouts for its 2020 Junior (17u) team and its 2020 Senior (19u) team on these dates:

  • 17u only: July 20th, Berne Union High School, 5PM
  • 19u and 17u: July 26th, Beavers Field, 6PM
  • 19u and 17u: July 27th, Beavers Field, 1PM
  • 19u and 17u: August 17th, Beavers Field, 6PM

Eligibility for our 2020 teams:

  • 17u: Anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 2003
  • 19u: Anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 2001    

Please arrive 30 minutes early for registration and try to make at least two tryouts.

Both teams are building on a highly successful seasons for consecutive years.  The Junior Team finished their 2019 season at 24-12. Additional 2019 accomplishments include:

  • Runners-up in the 2019 Pastime All American Memorial Classic
  • Silver Bracket Runners-up in the 2019 Pastime Xavier University Ohio Valley Invitational
  • Runners-up in the Post 11 Junior Baseball Classic, 2018 and 2019

The Senior Team finished its 2019 regular season 26-17. Additional accomplishments include:

  • Semifinal berth in the 2019 Pastime Xavier University Ohio Valley Invitational
  • Quarterfinal berth (64 teams) in the 2019 Worthington Wood Bat Tournament
  • Semifinal berth in the 2019 27th Annual Lancaster Post 11 Baseball Classic
  • District 8 Tournament Champs 2017, 2018 (2019 tournament underway)
  • 3rd place finish in ALB Ohio State Tournament 2017, 2018 (2019 tournament late July)

Post 11 continues to expand several aspects of its program:

  • Fall practice and winter workouts, including Driveline and Blast Motion Bat training
  • Support and recommendations for college recruiting and on-line player profiles
  • Extensive web and digital presence for players and the program
  • Participation in Prep Baseball Report (PBR) sponsored tournaments

For 70 years, Post 11 – Lancaster’s hometown team since 1949 – has made continual investments in its program and has served the community and the player:

  • Volunteer staff with decades of coaching and leadership experience
  • Winner of 47 district titles and state tournament berths
  • Helped more than 400 young men go on to play college ball; 12 professional players
  • Fees kept to a minimum - a third-to-half the cost of other area programs
  • Small rosters that are locked before the season starts
  • ~70% of games played at our home stadium, Beavers Field
  • Home games live streamed through Facebook

Post 11 is a proud member of American Legion Baseball, an American tradition focused on developing the youth of America. Legion baseball is a unique blend of patriotism, comradery and competition. Its structure resembles collegiate play in many ways, including:

  • High frequency game play (e.g., 40 – 50 games within 7 weeks)
  • League play and Divisional Tournament
  • State Tournament
  • Regional Tournament
  • World Series Tournament
