Tryouts for 2019 Teams Announced

Tryout details and overview of Lancaster Post 11 program

 

The Lancaster Post 11 American Legion Baseball Team will host tryouts for its 2019 Junior (17u) and Senior (19u) teams on the following dates and times:

  • 08/04/2018, 5:00PM
  • 08/05/2018, 3:00PM
  • 08/11/2018, 5:00PM
  • 08/12/2018, 3:00PM

All sessions will be at our home stadium, Beavers Field, 1651 Granville Pike, Lancaster. Please arrive 30 minutes early for registration and try to make at least two sessions.

Both teams are building on highly successful seasons for the second consecutive year.  The Junior Team finished their season 22-9-1, and the Senior Team is currently at 20-12, going 16-4 for the last 20 games. Additional Senior Team accomplishments include:

  • 2 consecutive State Tournament berths, placing 3rd overall in 2017
  • 2 consecutive District 8 League Championships
  • 2 consecutive District 8 Tournament Championships
  • 2 consecutive Baseball Classic Tournament Semifinalists

Post 11 is also expanding several aspects of its program:

  • Fall practice and winter workout schedules, including Driveline and Zepp Bat training
  • College baseball activities, including visits to watch games and talk with coaches
  • Support and recommendations for college recruiting and on-line player profiles
  • Greater web and digital presence for players and the program

For nearly 70 years, Post 11 – Lancaster’s hometown team since 1949 – has made continual investments in its program and has served the community and the player:

  • Volunteer staff with decades of coaching and leadership experience
  • Winner of 45 district titles and state tournament berths
  • Helped more than 125 young men go on to play college ball; 12 professional players
  • Fees kept to a minimum - a third-to-half the cost of other area programs
  • Small rosters that are locked before the season starts
  • ~70% of games played at our home stadium, Beavers Field

Post 11 is a proud member of American Legion Baseball, an American tradition focused on developing the youth of America. Legion baseball is a unique blend of patriotism, comradery and competition. Its structure resembles collegiate play in many ways, including:

  • High frequency game play (e.g., 40 – 50 games within 7 weeks)
  • League play
  • Divisional Tournament
  • State Tournament
  • Regional Tournament
  • World Series Tournament
