Tylor expresses gratitude and emphasizes grades, leadership and relationships

Congratulations to Tylor Wolfe, Fairfield Union 2019, for selecting Lake Land College, Mattoon, IL, to continue his academic pursuits and play college baseball! Lake Land's team is known as the Lakers and they participate in the Great Rivers Athletic Conference (GRAC), Region 24. Tylor will be accompanied at Lake Land by teammate Chaz Dickerson, Berne Union 2019. The two will be joining Tylor's brother, Bradley Wolfe, Fairfield Union class of 2017, on the Laker's baseball team.

Going to college and playing college baseball is a big deal for anyone, and Post 11 is very happy for Tylor. He has certainly worked hard and deserves it!

Tylor played summer ball the last several season with the Fairfield County Bulldogs, coached by his dad, Jason Wolfe. It's a fortunate thing for a father and son to get to be on the same team, especially at this high level of ball. Tylor and a couple of other Bulldogs have joined Post 11 for the 2019 season. There are a lot of teams Tylor and his teammates could have joined, and Post 11 is honored they chose us for the upcoming season. They are all great athletes and will be significant contributors.

Below is an interview with Tylor on his decision to go to college and to play baseball. It's a great read. You'll quickly see Tylor's grateful attitude toward playing ball - a key aspect of Post 11 culture - his emphasis on grades, leadership and relationships. Recently he was named to the 2019 All-Southeastern District Football Team, Division IV, first team as a running back. Tylor racked up over 1500 yards this season for the Falcons and nearly won the school's long-standing single season rushing record. Another highlight of his season included the game against Logan Elm when he rushed for a total of 355yds and 5 TDs. Tylor is a strong, fast athletic young man and we can't wait to see him on the baseball field this summer!

---------------------------interview

Which college have you committed to? Lake Land College, Mattoon, IL.

How does it feel to know that you’ll be going to college and why? It’s very comforting and it’s nice to know that there is someone out there who wants me.

What is your favorite thing about the college you chose and why? I like how it’s a small school which will allow me to focus on my grades but is also very competitive.

How do you see yourself contributing to your new college baseball team? I bring a positive attitude to the dugout and I believe my speed can help in the outfield.

What do you know about your new coach? And, how will you go about getting to know him and his staff and what they expect of a new team member? Coach Jackson is a hard-nosed guy who is easy to communicate with. Coach Stewart is a great guy who is easy to talk to. They both enforce hard work, responsibility, and dedication.

What do think will be the most challenging about college baseball? Trying to find the time for full time athletics and being a full time student.

How does it feel to be facing your final year of school ball? It is sad to think about knowing it will be my last year playing with these groups of guys. I’m going to miss all of my friends. I want to make my last year one to remember and go out with a bang.

Will you approach your final year of school ball and summer ball differently now that you are a committed college baseball player? I am still going to go at it 100% to set a good example for younger kids.

What advice would you give other Post 11 players going through the recruiting process and considering a college baseball career? Always take the field like someone is watching and play every game like it’s your last.

What do you think will be the first thing you do when you get to campus? After getting moved in, I will meet new friends.

Prediction – how many all-nighters do you think you’ll pull in your freshman year in college? After feedback from my brother, I will be spending plenty of long nights catching up with school work.
